Be Ever Watchful

October 16, 2006

This is the third week that I’ve fellowshipped with “Life in Christ Church of God” in Sturgis.  It’s been awesome as it’s always good to be with those who love the Lord Jesus.  Is it a perfect church?  Far from it.  We are sinners, saved by grace and we strive to be more Christlike on a continuous basis; knowing that while in this body that has a different law working in its members, we’ll always have growing to do.  Nonetheless, it’s been an awesome time and while the church is still very small, as we are obedient and prayerful, the Lord will add to the church daily such as should be saved.  Just trust the Lord Jesus and not obsess over numbers.  We need to be mindful that we plant and water, but it’s God who gives the increase.

Yesterday, the pastor preached a message on how mans natural state is one of iniquity and how the Lord continuously works to mold us into his image, using the examples of how a potter will mold a vessel into the image that he wants.  He touched on how, after a vessel is formed, the potter will place it in the oven, however, didnt go into the significance of that.  The fiery trials that a christian goes through will solidify (preserve) the image of the creator.  The trial of our faith works patience and proves that we truly believe what we say we believe.  Jesus stated in Luke 21:19 (it seems that I’ve been quoting this verse a lot lately)

“In your patience possess ye your souls.”

I’m going down a rabbit trail here, but patience is way too lacking in this hour.  This was a problem during the time that Jesus was in the world as they expected him to, at that time, restore the kingdom on earth.  (Acts 1:6-7)  And so it is with us.  I think on the Lords return daily.  If you watch the transpiration of events in this world and you can’t help but to “know” that this age is nearing its end.  Unlike most, and contrary to the church that I’m fellowshipping with, I believe the rapture takes place after the tribulation which is one reason as to why I give more attention to the events of the day.  Not to be overcharged with these events, but to be alert and watching; knowing the warning that Jesus gave us in Matthew 24:24-27 which reads

“For there shall be false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Behold, I have told you before.  Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chamber; believe it not.  For as the lightening cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Every eye is going to behold the Lord Jesus Christ when he returns, however, the time preceeding that glorious event is going to be one of unimaginable deception.  In Revelation 16:13-14 it tells about how three unclean spirits like frogs will proceed out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.  They will work miracles before the kings of the earth to gather them to the battle of Armageddon.  Read what Jesus then says to John in verse 16

“Behold, I come as a thief.  Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”

Be ever watching and continuing instant in prayer.  These are days of strong delusion and turmoil.  Don’t just follow the crowd; “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”  (That can be found in Philippians 2:12)  As I close out this post, please give all diligence in seeking the will of the Lord Jesus and seeking truth in all matters.  Please don’t take anyones word at face value.
