Dead Reckoning

December 3, 2006

Deuteronomy 18:10-11  “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.”

All of the activities in this verse involve the worship of, channeling the power of, or seeking knowledge from evil entities.  Entities which will never tell the average curiosity seeker of their true nature or about their real agenda of obscuring the gospel of Jesus Christ.  They will most likely pose as a spirit guide, a deceased relative (I’ll get into this in a moment) an enlightened being, an exterterrestrial, a time traveller, an ascended master, a Pleiadian, a reptilian, or anything that ones heart may wish to be in contact with.  They will NEVER tell you that they were once angels who  kept not their first estate because they believed the lies of Lucifer when he rebelled against the most high God.

I bring this up because America has been transformed from being a predominately “christian” nation into one of an occultic nature.  We have a church of every denomination in every town in the country and yet the cultural mindset is one which exalts the forces of magic and idolatry.  We have Disney magic, Yule tide magic, (That speaks volumes) Hollywood magic, the Orlando Magic, and “the magical world of make believe.”  We are obsessed with movie stars, rock stars, sports heros, movers and shakers; and even religious leaders.  It’s no wonder that this land is quickly going the way of the Roman Empire.    We (America) have become fat, lazy and preoccupied with self.  We have so much time on our hands that folks will organize “fantasy football leagues” as though the real one isn’t fantasy enough.  Ours is a pleasure driven, instant gratification seeking generation heaping to itself earthly treasures while millions in the world go into eternity because of a lack of the basic necessities of life.  Do not think for a moment that the God who inhabits eternity doesn’t see every injustice and every intent of the heart.  (This is off the intended topic, but it’s accurate.  Therefore, I’ll leave it.)

Friday night, I caught the opening moments of Glenn Beck.  (Our lunch period runs from 8:30-9:05; that was enough)  He began an hour long interview with John Edwards (the necromancer; not the democratic presidential hopeful) and told about the incredible success that he’s having.  Dedicated high profile skeptics have come to recognize what he does and in Australia, his first show was sold out in 90 minutes.  John Edwards, to hear him talk, sounds like a really nice guy; pleasent to listen to, with a sincere concern for those that he’s trying to help.  There’s only one problem with this and I refer to the opening passage of scripture to reveal that problem.  The bible strictly forbids “communicating with the dead.”  This is an incredibally dangerous practice as you really have no idea as to who you’re talking to in such a situation.  Even if “private information” that only the deceased person would know of is brought forth, don’t get involved with something that God forbids.  (When we’re told in the bible to not do something, it’s for our own well being; just as you will tell your kids to not play in the street.)  In addition it focuses attention on people instead of God.  In reality, it’s not far removed from ancestor worship.

In a wedding ceremony, the vows that we take are supposed to be for a lifetime or “until death do us part”  This means two things.  ( 1 )  A marriage is supposed to last a lifetime as this is Gods perfect plan; that a man and a woman (a “man” and a “woman”) remain faithful to each other for the duration of thein natural life.  ( 2 ) When a married person goes into eternity, the marriage ceases to be binding.  You don’t attempt to communicate with a person after they’re gone.  Yet doing such is not only widely accepted in our society, it’s idolized as the fame of John Edwards would attest.

Matthew 22:29-30  “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.  For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”

Communicating with the deceased is a slippery slope to ruin and it was one of the final acts of disobediance for Israels first king.  Initially, the children of Israel were ruled by judges appointed by God.  They desired to have a king like all of the nations around them (I’m doing some power paraphrasing here.  The entire account is in I Samual chapters 9-31)  Samual annoints Saul to be king over Israel.  In chapter ten, Saul prophesies with a company of prophets and he is “turned into another man by the spirit of the Lord.  Later on, King Saul begins to have problems with being obediant to what the Lord wants him to do; relying on his own judgment instead.  To make a long story short, Saul gets increasingly backslidden as David becomes Gods chosen man to be king.    On several occasions, Saul attempts to kill David.  In chapter 28, we find that Samual is now deceased.  The Philistines are set in array against Israel and Saul is fearful.  The Lord doesn’t give word to Saul as David is his selection to be king.  Saul then inquires of a woman with a familiar spirit at Endor.  Saul has gone to the uttermost in rebelling against God.  He does see Samual; a situation which is puzzling, yet the word of God declares that it transpired.  Samuals words are contrary to Sauls well-being.  In verse 24 (chapter 28)  King Saul is receiving food and comfort from the witch of Endor.  At any time, this man could have repented of his wicked ways.  He wound up enquiring from someone who was engaging in that which God forbids.  (Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live)   Later, in battle, the Philistine archers thrust Saul through, he fell on his sword and perished.

Deuteronomy 18:12  “For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”

The inhabitants of Canaan were involved with devil worship, child sacrifice, and every form of sorcery imaginable.  The people of this region were giants and very strong in the flesh.  God drove them out from before the children of Israel because of their wickedness.  This same type of wickedness  has now saturated America and the world.  The beast government will cause craft to prosper and those professing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will be ridiculed and killed.   What transpired on Glenn Becks program last Friday is just one more step in this direction.  The non-christian sects are growing expositionally while the church continues to wallow in its own lukewarmness and quest for material gain. Currently, Wicca is the fastest growing belief system on college campuses as young people are seeking something to be a part of; something that will satisfy the hunger inside.  There’s a void within each of us that only the Lord Jesus Christ can fill.  No religious structure or power can ever fill that void.

Revelation 18:2  “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying,  Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.”

You cannot find a more accurate verse in describing the spiritual state of america in the year of 2006.  Sin is a reproach to any people; regardless of how strong they are militarily or economically.  Sin will kill a nation and America is bearing the fruits of her transgression.

John 14:6  “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.  He loved us when we were altogether unlovely.  He went to a cross and shed his innocent blood to pay the sin debt of the world.  He died upon the old rugged cross and three days later, he rose from the dead.  He is alive forever more and he is soon to return.  Please give your heart to him before it’s too late.  If you open your eyes, you’ll see a world that’s primed to receive the man of sin.  That which I’ve discussed here is but one facet of the conditioning that’s been going on for years.  Jesus Christ, the Son of God is knocking on the door to your heart.  Please don’t delay any longer in giving your heart to him as time is running out quickly.   Salvation is a gift; yours for the asking, but the decision is totally up to you.

I John 1:9  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Revelation 3:20  “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

One more little tidbit before I close out.  If you remember, during the Reagan administration, it was revealed that Nancy Reagan frequently consulted with an astrologer.  The influence of wickedness at the highest level in the land.  Not to be outdone, during the 90s,  Hillary Clinton made a statement in which she told of conversations that she had with Elenor Roosevelt.  Once again, spiritual wickedness in high places.  This activity is far more dangerous than the lewd behavior of the president.  I recall Rush Limbaugh lampooning Hillarys comments on this almost daily.  (I used to listen to Rush regularly, when I was more focused on carnal things.)  This pattern of iniquity cuts across both political and generational boundaries.  There is “nothing new under the sun.”

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2006 11:00 AM  Greetings.  Not enough time to do a post so I’ll just check in here.  If I seem to be obsessed or negative sounding at times, it’s because a lot of end time events are transpiring before us and the people who should alert; that being the saints who spend time in the word of God daily, are asleep for the most part.

Matthew 25:5  “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.  (The word “all” is very telling)

This is something that every saint of God must wrestle with on a daily basis; to be alert to the times that were in and to not become dull of hearing.  To keep our sights firmly on the eternal world to come and to not become overcharged by the one that we interact with daily.  To be overcomers in a time when it’s all to easy to go with the flow.  Jesus really is returning.  Every eye shall behold him.  Every knee shall bow before him.  Of all the events in the realm of the “yet to come to pass,” the return of the Lord Jesus Christ is CENTER STAGE.  All of the other events are transpiring because of it.  Stablish your heart; time is short and very soon, time will BE NO LONGER.
