The Mistress of Witchcrafts

November 22, 2008

When the shift actually began isn’t clear; although elements have resided here since well before the foundation of the republic. Some point to the turbulent 1960s when halucinogenic experimentation became “hip” and the agents of theater began introducing the emerging generation to the concept of “good sorcery.” (This actually began way before the 1960s, but the age of television made mass indoctrination possible. Seeds of rebellion, planted by “nice people who use their powers only for good.”) Some point to the time when God was no longer welcomed into the education system. Still others point to a lukewarm church that has largely traded the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ for a social gospel that focuses on how to become a better “you”, how to get stuff, and how to engineer social change through the political process. I suspect that all three of these, along with a host of other factors, have contributed to the state of the Union at the end of 2008 AD. A nation and a generation that seems largely void of any biblical foundation and is poised to fulfill its role in the end times senario.

Isaiah 21:9 “And behold, here cometh a chariot of men with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.”

Revelation 18:2-3 “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”

The passage from Isaiah has been added because I’ve always been intrigued by the phrase “is fallen, is fallen.” This wording also appears in Revelation 14:8

One could speculate much about what Mystery Babylon is pertaining to. Many think that it is the United States because she fits the description so well. While I tend to lean in this direction, there are certain pitfalls associated with taking a “fill-in-the-blanks approach to prophecy. Regardless of this, the fact that the United States does fit the description so well reveals that ours is a nation in deep trouble from a spiritual perspective. In an earlier post, sodomy was discussed as being a practice that enjoys widespread acceptance. In truth, we’ve reached a point where anything contrary to scripture seems to enjoy widespread acceptance. For example, fornication has been transformed from “this is to be done within the confines of marriage” to “everybody does it.” It’s as common as the morning cup of coffee. While adultry probably receives a lower approval rating overall, I know people who enjoy spicing things up with a third party and are regular practicioners of such.

When you begin to consider the occultic element, it becomes obvious that this is no longer a predominantly christian nation. Most people, when they think of occultist, envision obscure groups of people on the outer fringes of society, performing rituals and casting spells.  The problem is far deeper than this as our entire culture, largely through the machinery of entertainment, has been reprogrammed to think like a witch. (David Meyers covers this extensively; in fact that preceeding sentance is largely borrowed from him.) There are folks in my own household who see nothing wrong with “magic” that’s used for good. Yesterday I made a comment concerning a particular program that my younger daughter likes. (the one who doesn’t cause problems.) Her reply was a casual “there’s nothing wrong with it dad. It comes from Disney.” My wife holds the same viewpoint concerning this and so I’m viewed as the “bad parent who doesn’t want anyone to have fun.”

If one were to inventory all of the entertainment options available today; movies, programs, video games, what have you, they would discover that a large percentage of them promote the use of supernatural power that’s not of God. It had very humble beginnings, with such offerings as “The Wizard of Oz” and the like. However, once these ideas gained widespread acceptance, the floodgates were opened. In 1977 “Star Wars” completely blew the doors off as it presented the entertainee with a “force” that had a good side and a dark side. Today, this is widely accepted and considered harmless, (even by many undiscerning christians) and the entertainment industry has found that such programming is very profitable.  The two sides feed off each other and step by methodical step, our “erstwhile great nation” (another phrase borrowed from David Meyers) has been largely transformed into a pagan society. This doesn’t mean that everyone is casting spells and worshipping deities; it just means that a large percentage of the population views the world from this non-biblical perspective. Supernatural power that’s not of God is ok, evolution is called a theory but taught as though it’s fact, and scriptural truth is viewed as being narrow-minded and “out of touch.” Which brings up the next passage;

Luke 21:12 “But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my names sake.”

This passage has been on my mind for over a week. At some point; even in this land, those who maintain the testimony of Jesus Christ (The real Jesus of the bible; this must be emphasized) will be persecuted in ways previously considered impossible here. The reasonings will seem well founded by those who know not God, from our stand against sodomy to our refusal to embrace a globalist agenda that promises a return to peace and prosperity. But the actual reason will be our testimony of Jesus Christ and that our very presence reminds them of a Holy God whom they would like to just forget about. Our culture has already been programmed to think occultically and soon they will embrace a global leader who will cause craft to prosper corrupt by flatteries and cause people to worship an image.

Philippians 1:28-29 “And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which to them is an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;”

One more thing that I’ve been pondering and it pertains to the obsession with entertainment. We can see how the entertainment industry (industry?) has opened the floodgates for the acceptance of those things which are contrary to Gods word. It also has a large percentage of our population addicted to “a need for continuous amusement through movies, games, and what have you. Lately I’ve been noticing these games where a person can pretend to be in a rock band. I can’t put my finger on it, but something very sinister is at work with this. Undoubtedly, falls in line with keeping people so focused on amusements that they don’t take time to consider such things as “Hey; if I die tonight, where will I be?” Yesterday, I overheard a report on how kids are becoming addicted to video games to the point that they become dysfunctional. (I was busy with something else, and so I only heard bits and pieces of the report)

Video games have caused problems for years in divers manners, (many games are very occultic in nature) but with these rock band simulations, something far more sinister is in play. There is a spirit of rock and roll that has been prevailant for years and these things almost transform the participant into a close-up interraction with that spirit. It’s much darker than “a friendly game of Mario Brothers.” Well I wasn’t planning on going into that, but there it is. As for now, I must be going. I pray that every saint would understand (myself included) the lateness of the hour. I know that this is a common statement here, but I really wonder if we truly have a grasp of what’s unfolding before us. we need to be close to Jesus. I linked to this in the previous post, but here it is again:

GODS WORD WILL BE “AN ANCHOR IN THE STORM”

Once this has been read, it will be obvious as to why I’m now linking to it for the third time. Until the next time, I wish to all, a blessed weekend in Jesus.

Nahum 3:4-5 “Because of the multitude of their whoredoms of the well-favoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that sellethnations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts. Behold I am against thee saith the LORD of hosts; and i will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will show the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame. And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing stock.”

  1. There has been some interesting speculation through the years concerning just who is the Babylon that will fall. I reckon that they all will fall. And in the midst of it all, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the thing of most importance we have to offer the world, as the site to which you linked summarized.

  2. I’ve always seen witchcraft as, like Satan, attempting to usurp God by becoming a god.

  3. Hi Dan. I first read the account of the dream almost four years ago and was astonished at the scriptural truth contained. The word of God will guide us even in the darkest of times. As for mystery Babylon, I think that we’ll be granted a complete understanding after these events have all come to pass. To stay close to Jesus and know that he will be with us always is foremost of importance.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed evenng in Jesus.

  4. Hi M Patterson. The enemy has an array of vices to draw folks away from the truth; all of them promising enlightenment and fulfillment, but never able to deliver. There’s an earlier post here that discusses this and has a couple of links to the testimonies of former wiccans who are now in Christ. Here’s a link to the post. (I always feel weird linking to myself lol)

  5. Timbob: Excellent post! Thank you so much for taking a stand, it really is refreshing to see in this forum. I wanted to let you know I reposted your prayer requests on “Make a Difference”…something I do weekly Mondays at my place for prayer requests and praises. Am praying for you as the Lord leads and brings to mind. Hang in there brother, He is doing big, wonderful things!

  6. Good evening “1godsgal.” Thanks for the prayers. This is a situation where one misstep could be disasterous. I strive to keep in mind the souls in the balance, but this can be challenging at times.

Have a blessed thanksgiving in Jesus.

Great post! I encourage you to be the “bad cop!” It is your RIGHT and RESPONSIBILITY to protect your family – even from themselves, if necessary….God bless!

  8. Good evening Tonalyn18. Thanks for stopping by. The enemy has done a masterful job of making evil look like good in these last days. Thanks for the encouragement to stand for truth.

Have a blessed weekend in Jesus.
