Checking In 6/05/07 (2107)

Today has been a strange one.  I had a relatively major dental procedure done this morning and as a result was really “out of it” for a while.  The afternoon was spent slumbering and it seems as though much of the day following the procedure has been one of carnal-mindedness.  Not so much the entertaining of worldly thoughts or allowing the flesh to go on holiday; just a time of “not thinking on spiritual things.”  I praise God for a refocusing late this afternoon.  It may seem lie a big deal, but it was a reminder of just how quickly the mind can “go on a vacation.”  I’m taking the night off from work which means time available to pray under the stars instead of under a ton of factory lights. 

I remember a post done by Phil concerning creation and how it is in harmony with the Lord.  This isn’t a call to worship the creation but rather an acknowledgement that God created all that is.  Here’s a link to Phils post concerning this.

I read this and it was almost a telling of just how I feel when under a starry sky or in a field on a warm sunny day with a gentle wind blowing.  When the contraptions of “better living through science” are far far away and Gods handiwork is manifest.  One cannot help but find themselves in heavenly places in such moments.  Longing all the more to be delivered from this tabernacle of flesh and present with the Lord Jesus.  I’m kind of rambling here and perhaps the pain medication is getting its two cents in also.  Yet it’s so true.  Every sunset, every thunderstorm, every blustery day, every morning when a fresh blanket of snow covers the earth; every event loudly proclaims “My God, How great thou art.” 

Something else has been on my mind lately concerning earth changes.  We know that God created all that is and that it was very good.  The world today is nothing like it was in the beginning when a mist came up from the ground and watered the face of he earth.  The weather patterns of today were completely different in the beginning.  After the fall, the earth began to bring forth thorns and thistles, childbearing became more complicated, and the serpent was relegated to a life of crawling on the earth and eating dust.  In other words, creation took a turn for the worse. 

Following the flood, the life expectancy of man was shortened, the fear of man came upon all of the beasts of the earth, and the present weather patterns began to come into play with rain being a very present need.  In other words, things became even rougher.   Increasingly the creation groans and travails; waiting to be delivered.  This following passage is very telling as to the mechanics of this.   

II Chronicles 36:21  “To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.”

Wickedness causes the very creation to be stressed as it was the reason for the children of Israel being carried away.  Then the land had rest.  One can only imagine the stress on the world today.  It’s interesting that in the last days, the wickedness of man becomes more intense and the creation is in greater upheaval.  The sea and the waves roaring while earthquakes transpire in divers places.  Volcanic activity is on the increase as hell enlarges itself.  In the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, researchers have found a “hole in the crust.”  A place where the crust of the earth simply doesn’t exist and it has many baffled.  I don’t know how much the pain medication is having a role in this post, but these have been some ponderings as of late.  (An “inconvenient truth” for all who rush to put God out of their memory.) 

This could go on, but I have to tend to some things.  I just wanted to check in and say hello to all.  This post has been quite unplanned and input is definately welcomed.   I’ll close for now but will bring up one more verse which adds to this topic. 

Luke 19:37-40  “And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;  Saying Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.  And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, master, rebuke thy disciples.  And he said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”
